A MAN who threatened to bomb Barlinnie prison and burn down Ibrox Stadium could face jail.

Thomas Flanigan, 23, also told guards he was waiting around the corner for them.

Flanigan pleaded guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court to two charges of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.

A hearing was told Flanigan called up Barlinnie in the early hours of the morning after he had been drinking.

Guard Robert Cairnie answered the phone to Flanigan who was “rambling in meaningless conversation.”

He was told not to call back.

But, prosecutor Lauren Donnelly said: “Flanigan said he would be waiting on him at the bottom of the road, that he was going to blow up the jail and that he was around the corner.”

Police were alerted and spoke to Flanigan at his home in the city's Kelvinbridge.

Miss Donnelly added: “Flanigan became aggressive and stated: ‘You are a bunch of f****** c****, take these cuffs off and see what happens.”

At the police station, he continued to rant at officers.

Miss Donnelly said: “He said: ‘I will smash your c*** in and I will burn down Ibrox, those huns’.”

Flanigan’s lawyer Marissa Borland told the court he was dealing with family trouble at the time.

Sheriff Joan Kerr deferred sentence for a couple of weeks for reports.

She told Flanigan: “The threats you made were serious threats and your conduct with the police was serious.”
