A TEENAGE boy has been reported after bins were deliberately set on fire in Hamilton.

Two fire engines were called to Lamb Street in the town on Monday night.

Crews worked for an hour on the blaze before leaving.

Police Scotland said they are treating the fire as deliberate. A 13-year-old boy has also been charged and reported for the incident.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Police were made aware of a fire in Lamb Street, Hamilton. 

"Early indicators are that the fire was started deliberately. 

"A 13-year-old male youth has been charged in connection with the incident. He will be reported to the Children's Reporter."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman added: “We were alerted at 5.56pm on Monday, July 29 to reports of a fire involving outdoor bins at Lamb Street, Hamilton.

“Operations Control mobilised two fire appliance to the scene, where crews extinguished the fire and ensured the area was safe.

“There were no casualties, and crews left at 7.24pm.”
