The heartbroken loved ones of a missing man whose body was found in a Glasgow canal have launched a fundraiser to give him the 'best send off'.

Johnny Connelly was reported missing from Milton on July 15, and his body was pulled from the water at Spiers Wharf by police in the city one week later.

Police in Glasgow announced the death of the 28-year-old was being treated as unexplained.

Now, friends of Johnny have launched a fundraiser in his memory to ensure he has the best send-off possible.

A message written on the fundraising page reads: "We received hundreds of touching messages of support and kindness about Johnny Connelly as he was clearly loved by many.

"Given the tragic and sudden way that Johnny was taken from his family we are asking people to donate, whatever they can, to help with Johnny's funeral service and or memorial costs."
