PLANS have been submitted to transform a former hospice into a complex featuring flats, holiday lets, and a gym.

A planning application has been submitted to Glasgow City Council for the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice building in Carlton Place in the Gorbals.

Those behind the application is asking the local authority for a change of use. They want to create 28 flats, build 82-holiday letting rooms and a gym. A car park is also included the plans as well as the demoltion of the rear of the property.

The hospice was previously located in Carlton Place before a new £21million site was built in Bellahouston Park. The Evening Times Brick by Brick appeal helped play a part in raising funds for the new hospice. The new facility opened last year.

Now an application has been submitted by Strathedin Properties Limited asking for permission to transform the old premises.

Planning permission subject to conditions was previously granted for the conversion of the listed building. The developers were also granted permission to make internal alternations to a listed building and build a four-storey building.

A decision is expected by September 18 and the last date for comments is August 23.
