CELTIC Football Club has asked the city council for permission to continue using an area of land for the siting of a temporary ticket office.

The club's ticket office is currently based on Kerrydale Street, opposite the Celtic superstore and is a temporary structure with associated parking.

The club has asked the local authority to extend planning permission to use the area for a further period of three years.

Permission was first granted for the temporary ticket office in 2013 and was later renewed in 2016.

In the new planning application, submitted July 19, a statement said: "The application is required for a further three years to allow the applicant to properly assess future development on the site and allocate resources to a permanent structure."

It adds: "The building has operated under existing temporary planning permission which expires on November 8, 2019, and this application is for the extension to that temporary planning permission."

A decision is expected by September 20 and the last date for comments is August 22.

Celtic were previously granted planning permission in principle for a £18m regeneration project which includes a hotel, museum, a retail store for club merchandise and a new ticket office.

In 2017, Glasgow City council passed the plans with no objections lodged and said work must begin within three years.

The hotel would be based on London Road, outside the main stand at Celtic Park and close to the Emirates Arena.
