Customers have slammed a Glasgow festival over 'nightmare' customer service that has left them queuing for drinks for 'over an hour'.

Music lovers headed to Rouken Glen Park for the brand new Playground Festival on Friday, which saw Friendly Fires and Groove Armada kick off the debut night.

But many fans appear to have missed out on seeing the artists while waiting in line at the site's bars - with some customers claiming they were left standing for an hour and a half.

Festival-goers have also complained that there is no free water available on-site, as yesterday's temperatures reached 23C.

They have taken to the event's Facebook page to complain about the situation as other fans begin the journey to the festival's second day.

One wrote: "I was there last night and it was totally disorganised.

"Waited 45 minutes for a drink, no toilet roll in the toilets, no water taps, even some of the food vans had run out of food.

"Total shambles from an organisation point of view but still managed to have an absolutely brilliant night thanks to Groove Armada and a brilliant crowd."

Another commented: "We waited an hour and a half last night and totally missed the friendly fires.

"Staff were faffing about, totally disorganised and it really brought us down after a great start. Total shambles."

And one commented that there were more people queuing at the bar than there was near the stage.

One asked organisers if Saturday's gig would be improved: "Are you planning to have more staff or a better-organised bar tonight?

"90 mins is the longest I’ve ever waited for a drink at any festival ever!

"Groove Armada were great but the bar was an utter shambles."

The show returns tonight with performances from Craig Charles, Anna Calvi and headliner Lauryn Hill.

Sunday will see Eigg’s own Pictish Trail, Honne, Maribou State, Django Django and  Hot Chip take to the stage.

Organisers have been approached for comment.
