HERO rescue workers have revealed that the victim of a jellyfish attack was a schoolboy.
Girvan Lifeboat crew have spoken of how brave Andrew McNicol from Manchester survived the attack.
The nine-year-old suffered jellyfish stings to approximately 70 per cent of his body after he was targeted by the creature on the Ayrshire coast.
His family brought him to the attention of the volunteer lifeboat crew at the nearby Girvan station.
They found his condition to be worsening and delivered first aid on the scene before calling for an ambulance.
An air ambulance was called out after medical staff determined that further urgent care may be required.

Now it has been revealed that the youngster has recovered.
In a post on Facebook, Girvan Lifeboat crew said: "We assisted a casualty who had an allergic reaction to Lions Mane JellyFish stings to over 70 percent of his body, thankfully after treatment they were released from the hospital.
"That casualty was Brave young Andrew McNicol, age 9, from Manchester who came back with his family to visit and thank some of our crew during our open day.
"The family also pass their thanks to Scottish Ambulance Service and the crew of Helimed5.
"Andrew is still a bit sore but will make a full recovery."
