Ex-Celtic midfielder Willo Flood has recalled the bizarre moment former Rangers star Joey Barton brought a GUN into training at Man City - before heading out to shoot sheep.

A young Flood signed for the Citizens in 2002 as a teen and was taken aback when he was approached by the ex-Gers player.

Barton - who flopped at Ibrox after a player of the year season in the English Championship with Burnley - revealed his unusual plans to the Irishman.

And Flood was shocked to hear from hardman Barton that he had indeed used the weapon to gun down the animals.

Speaking on Si Ferry's Open Goal show, Flood recalled: "[Barton] came in one day with this gun thing and it was all bullet wounds in the lockers and you're thinking 'what the f*** is that?'

"He opens his locker and he has this big gun and I'm like 'what are you doing?'

"He says 'I'm just going to shoot a few sheep'.

"Next day he comes in and goes 'Willo, went and saw two sheep, bang bang, killed two of them straight away and drove off'.

"I thought 'what the f*** are you doing, man?'"

Despite the unusual run-in, Flood also admitted he had an admiration for Barton, now manager at Fleetwood Town, for his work-ethic.

He added: "I had a lot of time for Joey, he's dedicated and worked his balls off.

"He was in the gym, worked hard after training and stayed out after training 20 minutes or half-an-hour."
