Glaswegians have been told to prepare for extreme weather on Friday as a yellow Met Office weather warning comes into place. 

Experts have predicted very heavy rainfall on Friday and into the weekend, with the caution set to be in place until at least midnight. 

Thunder and lightning could also be set to hit the city later in the day, with forecasts suggesting the hot and wet weather could turn at around 4pm.

This will be followed by a further yellow warning from the Met Office on Saturday for thunderstorms in parts of Scotland. 

Those in the city have been told to brace for a number of extreme conditions. 

According to the Met Office's website, Friday's weather could lead to disruption across the country, with a chance of flooding to homes and businesses and damage to buildings. 

Experts also warned there is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life.

Additionally, spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures, with a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services in these areas, or even that some communities become cut off by flooded roads. 

Heavy rain such as this is thought to be likely in Glasgow and across Scotland throughout the weekend.
