Parts of Scotland could see two weeks' worth of rainfall today while the rest of the UK surveys the damage caused by recent heavy winds.
Three weather warnings are in force covering Scotland where up to 50mm of rain is expected - the average rainfall at this time of year is 117mm.
The rain warnings are due to be in place until midnight, with the public warned of difficult driving conditions and the risk of flooding.
The yellow Met Office warning is in place until 6pm, and the thunderstorm warning is due to come to an end at 8pm.
A period of heavy showers will be followed by torrential rain all the way until 9pm tonight.
The Met Office told the Evening Times the fortnightly forecast was to be "overall will be fairly unsettled", with "below average" temperatures.
