FLOODING on the line between Glasgow and Edinburgh is affecting train services this morning.

ScotRail warned commuters that the Winchburgh tunnel at Linlithgow is flooded for the second time this week following heavy rainfall yesterday. We previously reported that the rail service had to cancel trains after the line was closed because at least two feet of water flooded the tracks, pictured. 

Engineers are understood to be monitoring the situation and trains will run at reduced speed. 

The firm said services between Queen Street and Edinburgh via Falkirk High may be delayed or revised. The same applies to services between the two cities via Cumbernauld.

Commuters are advised to use alternative routes. You can travel to Edinburgh via Bathgate and Airdrie.

Edinburgh to Glasgow via Shotts is also operating normally.

A ScotRail spokesman added: "Although the line remains open, trains services will run through Winchburgh tunnel at 5mph."

Other services affected include between Helensburgh Central and Bathgate via Airdrie. They will finish and start at Bathgate.

Train services between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh via Falkirk Grahamston and Cumbernauld may be delayed or terminated at and started back from Falkirk Grahamston.

ScotRail also advised services between Glasgow and Edinburgh will be reduced to half-hourly. They will leave Glasgow on the hour and half the hour.

While Services between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh via Falkirk Grahamston and Edinburgh and Dunblane will now run as booked but are subject to alterations.
