A RUSSIAN football fan was punched and kicked on the head in front of his wife in broad daylight.

Andriy Myachykov, 46, was attacked by Deen Ramzan, 18, and Hisham Chegra, 19, on Glasgow’s Ashton Lane last July.

The pair pleaded guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the assault on Mr Myachykov and acting in a threatening and abusive manner.

Ramzan was 17-years-old at the time of the attack.

Mr Myachykov and his wife had been out in their Russian football jerseys to watch their side take on Spain in last year’s World Cup.

The court heard Mr Myachykov was in Ashton Lane when Chegra and Ramzan laughed at him.

Prosecutor Harry Findlay said: “They had a conversation which was good humoured at first but it changed.

“Chegra punched him on the right side of his face and shortly after Ramzan punched him and he stumbled back.

“When he was on the ground Chegra reappeared and kicked him on the face.”

Chegra, of Cardonald, and Ramzan, of Finnieston, fled the scene.

Mr Myachykov decided to take a taxi to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

He needed stitches for an eye wound.

The thugs were arrested at their homes the following week by police.

Sheriff Johanna Johnston QC deferred sentence for reports and the pair will learn their fate next month.

She said: “To strike someone and kick him on the face is a very serious matter and I will be looking at what’s available at my disposal including detention.”

Chegra and Ramzan smiled as they left the dock.
