A THUG who carried out a brutal hammer attack on a man later lied to police he was in bed at the time.
Joseph Eronen, 25, pounced on Kevin Lundie at the victim's flat in Maryhill, Glasgow in March this year.
A judge heard how Mr Lundie was left with “multiple facial fractures” as a result.
Police later turned up and found the stricken 53-year-old lying in his blood-splattered bedroom.
Prosecutor Lindsey Dalziel said Mr Lundie was able to give an “account” of what happened.
It lead to Eronen, also of Maryhill, being traced the next day.

Miss Dalziel told the court: “He stated that he had been in the company of a woman – however, he would have been in bed sleeping at the time of the assault.”
Eronen then “changed his version of events” and claimed he could not remember where he had been.
He also initially denied attacking Mr Lundie.
However, Eronen today pled guilty to assaulting the victim at a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow.
Lord Beckett remanded him in custody pending sentencing next month.
