Lewis Capaldi admitted he 'p****d himself' on stage last night as he played Edinburgh Summer Sessions.

The Scots star took to the stage in the first of two sold-out gigs at Princes Street Gardens, but apparently, there was not enough time for a toilet break.

He told 6,000 fans that he began 'needing to go' during hit song Hollywood from his latest album before a 'wee dribble' ran down his leg during the next song.

"I've been drinking water to stay hydrated," he told fans gathered. "It's good for the voice.

"But I started needing to pee halfway through Hollywood, and on that high note there, a wee dribble ran down my leg.

"So basically, I've p****d myself."

He also joked that the accident should stay between those at the gig, and that if there were any newspapers present they should not write about it.

Fans were also left reeling during one of the Whitburn singer's older tracks, after he joked legend Paolo Nutini was due to join him on stage.

As he approached the duet section of Rush, originally sung by Jessie Reyez, fans were waiting expectedly to see which performer would join him on stage.

But Lewis took even his biggest fans by surprise when he said; "Ladies and gentlemen... Paolo Nutini!"

As fans screamed in anticipation for the Paisley singer to join the star on stage, Lewis chuckled and continued: "...is not f*****g here!"

The tease came weeks after the Iron Sky star paid £10,000 for Lewis' Chewbacca mask from TRNSMT, and put the proceeds to charity.

An eager fan also threw her bra onto the stage, which Lewis promptly placed atop his head and commented: "This is my career. This is my job. Drink it in."

He finished his set with chart-topping single Someone You Loved, and prolonged it for almost ten minutes to finish in time for the fireworks from the Edinburgh Tattoo.
