Vehicles have been left as burnt-out shells after an early morning blaze in Renfrew.

We reported earlier that fire crews were on the scene at Meadowside Street after reports of several vehicles on fire at around 12.48am.

Four appliances and an aerial unit were deployed to the scene.

Reports on social media suggested the fire had caused 'explosions' to be heard across the city.

It has since emerged that the cause of the 'explosion' was the two lorries and two trucks that had caught fire, and thereafter caused a nearby roof to go up in flames.

The fire has since been extinguished, but investigators remain on the scene to assess the damage caused.

Images show two large white trucks with hollowed-out windows and burnt tires in a warehouse.

The area has been taped off while fire crews remain on site.

There are no reports of any casualties.
