STREET art is turning cities into Instagrammable hot-spots – and Glasgow has two of the most-snapped murals in the north of the UK.

Graffiti and photorealism artist Sam Bates, aka Smug, is putting the city on the map.

His bold works - Saint Mungo on High Street and Fellow Glasgow Residents in the Ingram Street car park – took first and second place following train company TransPennine Express's analysis of street art Instagram posts in June and July.

Smug also claims the accolade of the most Instagrammed street artist overall, while Glasgow takes third place amongst northern UK cities with 12,707 street art posts to date.

Where Glasgow alone is concerned, Smug and fellow graffiti artist Rogue One have four pieces of artwork apiece in the top ten most Instagrammed murals in the city. The works of Klingatron and Art Pistol also feature.
