A MAN was subjected to a violent attack in the back garden of a house. 

The 34-year-old has been left with serious injuries following the assault in Wishaw's Stewarton Street at around 8 pm on Sunday. 

He was assaulted by two men within the rear garden of a house in Stewarton Street which backs onto Dimsdale Crescent.

The injured man was taken to Wishaw General Hospital where he was treated for facial injuries before being released.

The two suspects are described as white, tall and thin and in their late 40s to early 50s. They made off in the direction of Dimsdale Crescent.

Detective Constable Graeme Stoddart at Wishaw CID said: “We are still trying to establish the exact circumstances of this incident but believe that this was not a random attack.

“This type of violence will not be tolerated in our communities and it is vital that we trace the men responsible.

“Anyone who has information regarding this incident is asked to contact Wishaw Police Office via telephone number 101 quoting incident number 3796 of 18 August 2019.”
