A NOODLE bar could open in Glasgow city centre if council planners give it the go-ahead.

Market Street Ltd has applied for permission to convert a shop on West Nile Street into a Dr Noodles restaurant.

The chain, which would open from 10am to 10pm seven days a week, says it offers “delicious, healthy meals at an affordable price”.

“The proposal will have a positive impact on the vitality and viability of this part of the city centre,” a planning statement claims.

“The unit comprises the ground floor, a basement level and a small area of storage on the first floor.”

External alterations will be limited to new signage and painting the front of the existing shop, which has been occupied by a florist.

“The loss of this retail unit would not diminish the retail functions of the street or wider city centre,” the report adds.

Dr Noodles franchises are open in St Andrews, Dundee, Aberdeen, Perth and Stirling.
