FIREFIGHTERS have confirmed that a large number of tyres were on fire at Scotland Street last night.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent three crews and an aerial appliance to tackle the blaze in the derelict James Howden Engineering Works in Tradeston.
It took them over an hour to tackle the fire which involved tyres.

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were alerted at 7.58pm on Sunday, August 25 to reports of a fire within a vacant building in Glasgow.
"Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances and an aerial appliance to Scotland Street, where crews extinguished a fire involving a large quantity of tyres.
"There were no reported casualties.
"Crews left at 9.10pm."
Scotland Street museum confirmed that they will operate as normal today.
We reported last night that thick black smoke could be seen across parts of the M8 and dramatic video footage shows a fierce blaze taking hold of the building.
The site has lain empty for around 20 years and was earmarked for a major new residential and commercial development including 230 new homes and other business units.
