Celtic legend Paolo Di Canio has had his return to Glasgow SCRAPPED.

Feisty Italian Di Canio was due to appear at Glasgow’s Hilton on September 6 for a supporter Q&A event.

However organisers Events 105 have shut down the planned interaction.

Event chiefs confirmed the decision to cancel the evening on social media.

However they refused to go into any detail to outline exactly why the £75-per-VIP ticket event had been axed.

Posting on Facebook they said: “Due to concerns that have been brought to our attention it is with great regret that we are announcing the cancellation of the up-and-coming show ‘An Evening with Paolo Di Canio’ that was scheduled to take place at the Hilton Hotel, Glasgow on Friday 6th September 2019.

“Although we are unable to disclose the full details of what has caused this outcome, we must make it clear that the issues that led to cancellation of the show were not linked to Paolo himself and certainly were not the fault of his in any way either.

“At this stage the exact details of what has occurred will remain in-house other than to say we felt that, given these developments, we are left with little option but to cancel the event much to our great disappointment - a feeling that is no doubt echoed by the many people who have bought tickets for what would have been a night to remember.

“We thank you all for your patience and support.

“All ticket holders will be entitled to a full refund including booking fee(s) and will be processed for you within 7 working days.

“Once again please accept our sincerest apologies and we thank you for your understanding.”

Di Canio donned the Hoops in 1996/97 season and became known as part of the famous Three Amigos which also included Pierre Van Hooijdonk and Jorge Cadete.
