The songwriter, 52, said producers have pitched the idea before - but struggled to find a storyline.

The comments come on the 10th anniversary since the band split.

According to the Scottish Sun, Live Forever is now in the pipeline charting the band's rise to the spotlight.

The star, who is married to Scot Sara MacDonald, said he spoke to an “English guy who works on Broadway who knows about these things” and asked what the musical would be about.

He added: "And he was like saying, ‘Your journey from rags to riches’. And I was like, ‘Do you have to make it so Dickensian? I never wore any rags’. People do love that s**t, I know. It’s inevitable it will happen one day. I will go and see it once.”

The High Flying Birds frontman also told the newspaper he plans to sell Oasis's back catalogue.

He said: “F***ing too right I am. What else am I going to do with it?”

Oasis were signed by Creations Records co-owner Alan McGee after he saw the band at King Tut's in the city.
