A MAN has been stabbed after he got involved in a fight in Pollokshaws. 

Cops rushed to the scene on Pollokshaws Road at around 5 pm last night following the attack.

The Evening Times understands that the thug attacked the passenger of a car parked on Pollokshaws Road. The 17-year-old was the intended victim of the attack.

But a 34-year-old driver got out the vehicle, which was a black Mercedes, to intervene. 

The thug then turned on him by chasing him and carrying out an assault. He stabbed him before bolting from the scene.

The stabbing victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital to be treated and he was later released.

Last night, cops cordoned off the scene as they began their investigation into the serious assault.

The Evening Times understands that they are closing in on their suspect. 

A force spokeswoman said: "It was around 5 pm yesterday afternoon on Wednesday, August 28, police attended a report that a man had been stabbed in Pollokshaws Road near to Nithsdale Road in Glasgow.

"It appears that a man approached a black Mercedes car which was parked on Pollokshaws Road and assaulted the 17-year-old male passenger within. 

"The 34-year-old driver of the car got out to try and intervene but he was attacked and chased by the suspect who stabbed him before running off.

"The 34-year-old was treated at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and has since been released. Enquires are continuing."
