Line of Duty's Martin Compston was due back on home turf as filming for his new drama got under way in Glasgow.

Film crews set up in the heart of Buchanan Street as cast and crew gathered outside Thai bar and restaurant Chaophraya to film scenes for BBC drama The Nest.

It will be shot on location across the city over the next few weeks. The Nest also stars Peaky Blinders actor Sophie Rundle.

The five-part series will explore a surrogacy pact between a wealthy couple and a teenage girl, and has been written by Glaswegian Nicole Taylor. She was the screenwriter on Wild Rose which was about an aspiring country star from Glasgow.

Centred on the teenager’s decision to carry the pair’s baby for them, The Nest is billed by the BBC as an emotional thriller from Bafta-winning writer Nicole Taylor.

Compston said: “I’m absolutely delighted to join the cast of The Nest.

“Nicole Taylor is one of the most exciting and original voices in writing today, I’m chuffed we’re finally working together.

“Combined with filming in Glasgow and going back on to BBC One in my native west coast accent makes it a dream scenario.”
