JEWELLERY and a five-figure sum of cash were nicked from a house in Renfrew.

The property in Afton Drive was broken into between 10.15am and 1.20pm on Sunday. Police say a quantity of jewellery and a five-figure sum of cash was stolen.

Officers have been carrying out enquiries in the area and are viewing CCTV footage to gain any further information that will assist their ongoing investigation.

Detective Constable David McIntosh, of Paisley Police Office, said: “Officers have been carrying out house to house enquiries and are viewing CCTV footage from the local area, to gain any further information that will assist the ongoing investigation.

“A black car was seen in the street around 12.20pm on Sunday afternoon and a young man was seen at the front door of the property at that time, so we are working to trace both the young man and the car.
