OLD FIRM stars have rallied their support for Scott Brown after he was targeted by a fan who subjected him to a horrific taunt about the death of his sister following Sunday's Old Firm match.

Paddy McCourt, Simon Donnelly, Chris Sutton, Nacho Novo, and Moussa Dembele are just some of the players to send their support to the star.

It comes after a clip posted online showed the Hoops skipper, 34, leaving Ibrox Stadium to board the team bus when a yob approached him to ask, "How's your sister?"

Brown stared down the troll but was clearly angry and disappointed to receive such vile abuse.

Heartbroken Brown lost his sister Fiona at just 21. She passed away after losing her battle with skin cancer in 2008.

Dembele shared the vile clip on his social media saying: "Disgusting, it's just football. Be strong captain as usual."

Paddy McCourt added: "Disgusting behaviour. In my opinion, you have to be bad to the core to try and emotionally hurt another person by using the personal grief that they’ve suffered in the past as a weapon. Take football out of it whoever shouted that is a horrible human being."

Simon Donnelly showed his support by simply saying: "Disgusting."

Chris Sutton, who has also been battling trolls after they targeted his daughter with vile abuse when she borrowed his phone, called for those responsible to be held to account.

He said: "The Scott Brown video is absolutely sickening. It’s hard to imagine anybody could actually be as sick as this. There is no place for this sort of behaviour anywhere in society. Enough is enough and the scumbag responsible should be held to account."

We reported last night that a Rangers spokesman said that the individual "will be banned for life from Ibrox".

Meanwhile, Rangers legend Nacho Novo also expressed his anger over the video.

He added that Brown was a nice guy.
