It’s usually the stars of the Citizens Theatre who get dressed up for their part, but yesterday it was the audience that had to put on different clothing for their role in proceedings.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and Glasgow City Council leader Susan Aitken joined April Chamberlain, chairman of the Citizens Theatre board, in high-viz jackets and hard hats at the Gorbals venue to mark the milestone of redevelopment work starting on site.
The first phase of demolition in Gorbals Street is under way as part of a two-year project costing £21.5million. Shows are being presented at the Tramway and on tour while work is carried out.
