A number of pilots at British Airways are set to strike this week in a row over pay.

Members of the British Airline Pilots Association (BALPA) are to walk out on Monday and Tuesday.

Passengers with flights booked on either of these days have been advised by the airline that it is likely they will not be able to travel.

And just yesterday, BA told any passengers not to travel to the airport if their flight has been cancelled.

Will the British Airways strikes affect Glasgow Airport?

BA have said they have emailed customers whose flight's have been affected by the strike action, and so anyone scheduled to fly either today or tomorrow should have been notified.

Have any flights from Glasgow Airport been cancelled?

This morning the only flight that looks as though it has been cancelled on Monday is the 06:55 flight BA1475 from Glasgow to London Heathrow.

No, the strikes will not affect Prestwick Airport - British Airways do not have any planes stationed there.

Can I get a refund if my British Airways flight is cancelled?

Yes, you can. The airline is offering all affected customers full refunds or the option to re-book to another date of travel or alternative airline.

Full details of how to get your refund should be explained in the aforementioned email.

What is British Airways saying about the strike?

A statement released by the airline yesterday said: "We're extremely sorry for the problems caused by the strike action called by the pilots’ union, BALPA on 9, 10 and 27 September.

"Our customer teams – supported by additional colleagues - have been working tirelessly to help as many of you as possible and to provide options, including a full refund or re-booking to a different date of travel or alternative airline.

"We continue to be available for constructive talks with BALPA, on the basis that there are no pre-conditions to those talks.

"If you have a flight booked with us on those dates, it is likely that you will not be able to travel as planned due to BALPA’s strike action. We are offering all affected customers full refunds or the option to re-book to another date of travel or alternative airline.

"If your flight is cancelled, please do not go to the airport.

"We proposed an offer of 11.5 per cent over three years to BALPA, a deal already accepted by members of the Unite and GMB unions, which represent 90 per cent of British Airways’ staff, a deal which we believe is fair."

What is BALPA saying in response?

General secretary Brian Strutton, said: "Our members' resolve is very strong and they remain very angry with BA, but they also want to leave no stone unturned in trying to find a resolution to their dispute.

"Avoiding strike action and agreeing a deal with their pilots surely must be the desired outcome for British Airways.

"We urge BA to join us to discuss the new proposal - which shows pilots are willing to be flexible but still stand united in getting a better deal."
