A charity that supports homeless people in Glasgow is planning a winter sleepout.

Volunteers from Help the Homeless Glasgow, which regularly provides food, sleeping bags and warm clothing to those in need, will take to the streets to raise awarness about the harsh conditions facing rough sleepers on a daily basis.

It's also hoped the event will raise donations for the charity - with every sleeper involved asked to pass on their sleeping bag in the morning so it can be put to use.

This year's sleepout will take place on Sauchiehall Street on December 14.

A Facebook post for the event reads: "Everyone is welcome to join, there are no registration fees etc all we ask is that you bring along a sleeping bag on the night which you can then donate to our group.

"These will be handed out to our friends on the street after the event."

And Anton Reilly, one of the Help the Homeless Glasgow organisers, added: "You don't have to sign up, all you have to do is turn up on the night with a sleeping bag and sleep alongside us and our friends on the streets.

"The next morning, donate your sleeping bag too the group and we will make sure it goes too someone that needs it."
