A MAN has been arrested following an alleged raped in Glasgow on Tuesday night.
Police in the city are investigating an incident which was reported from the New Wynd area of the Trongate at around 10.40pm.
Officers say a 37-year-old woman was said to have been raped in the lane, with enquiries currently being carried out by officers in the area between Osborne Street and the Trongate.
Following the investigation, a 36-year-old man has been arrested.
A police cordon remains in place in the area.
A spokeswoman said: "Police were made aware of a report by a 37-year-old woman of a serious sexual assault in the New Wynd area of the Trongate, Glasgow at around 10.40pm on Tuesday 10 September 2019.
"A 36-year-old man has been arrested. Enquiries are ongoing."
