Rangers fans are being urged to hold a minute's applause at their next game in memory of a tragic young fan who passed away.

Connor Luke, 17, was rushed to hospital after falling unwell at a flat in Partick on Tuesday morning.

But the youngster could not be saved, with his pals now pleading for a fitting tribute for Gers-daft Connor during Saturday's match with Livingston.

They want the Ibrox crowd to hold an applause on the 17th minute - which relates to Connor's age.

"This boy had his whole life ahead of him and I was thinking if we could all try and get this around and have a 1 minute applause on the 17 min of the Livingston game on Saturday as he would be over the moon if it happens".

And a former Rangers star, Fraser Aird, even paid tribute - sharing an old image of him and Connor outside Ibrox.

He said:"My heart goes out to Connor's family and friends, life can be so cruel at times."

Police say that Connor, a pupil at Knightswood Secondary school, was in a flat with two other men, aged 17 and 18, at the time he took ill.

They are now probing whether or not his death was drug related.

His family and friends have now planned a balloon release event in his memory at Kelvingrove Park tomorrow night.

And his heartbroken mum, Carol O'Reilly, posted her devastation on social media.
