Commuters are facing delays on one of Scotland's busiest motorways this morning.

A broken down HGV has shut down one lane heading northbound over the Erskine Bridge.

Police are on the scene.

The knock-on impact is causing lengthy delays on the M8, with traffic stretching as far back as the St James roundabout at Paisley.

It's thought the lane was closed at around 8.30pm but delays remain more than an hour later.

Traffic Scotland tweeted: "A898 Erskine Bridge northbound - broken down vehicle blocking one lane.

"Traffic heavy back onto the #M8 at the moment."

And they later updated: "#A898 Erskine northbound- lane 1 now CLOSED due to the broken down HGV.

"Police are on scene. Slow traffic back onto #M8 W/B J30"
