IT'S been a Sauchiehall Street favourite for years and now Lauders bar is making its comeback after being closed for 18 months due to a major fire.
The pub is set to open its doors to regulars and new customers next week - and the Evening Times has had the first sneaky peak of the work that's been going on behind the scenes.
Lauders Bar, which was originally a barber shop offering haircuts in the cellar for a penny, is a much loved Sauchiehall street staple and its interiors reflect this.
With a real barber's chair in the corner next to completely revamped ladies and gents bathrooms, the pub is full of new little snugs all in proper pub upholstery.
Original Lauders whisky bottles are installed in cabinets on the walls and a brand new bar has been built.
There are botanicals in the windows and the same old characteristics are cherished and adored, like the real fireplace and cornicing.
A favourite characteristic of Lauders that will remain is barmaid Pauline Doyle, who has worked in Lauders for 15 years.
"I think Lauders reopening will bring some life back to Sauchiehall street - it will get the heart of the street back" Pauline told the Evening Times.
"I've been working in Edinburgh this past year and it's just not the same. It's the banter I love about the place, and the chat. I love this wee pub and i'm really excited to have it open again".
And although it's been revamped, Lauders still has a few tricks up its sleeve. Lunch will be available for only a £5, and there will be the same range of drinks with some special new whisky-themed additions.
"There are loads of new things to look forward to. I think the regulars will come back but also some new visitors as well, to see what it's all about. I just can't wait to get it open again" said Pauline.
