Fire crews have raced to Glasgow's Sauchiehall Street amid fears of another blaze.

As many as four Scottish Fire and Rescue Service vehicles were called to the busy city centre street at around 5pm on Friday.

The alarm was raised after a smoke detector could be heard from the vacant building next to the McDonald's restaurant.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said crews were in attendance but confirmed it was a false alarm.

The street is tragically all too aware of the impact of fires, after devastating incidents at the Glasgow School of Art and Victoria Nightclub.
