A six-week-old kitten has been found abandoned in a Glasgow bin.

The little ginger feline was found in a white paper bag in a public bin near a bus stop on Ashgill Road in Milton.

He was discovered by a member of the public who had heard his cries on Wednesday.

Officers at the Scottish SPCA are now trying to find the person responsible, and say that the incident was most certainly deliberate.

Animal rescue officer Ryan Cannon said: “The kitten was discovered inside a white paper bag in a bin.

“We are thankful the member of the public heard the kitten’s cries as who knows what would have happened if he hadn’t been found.

“He is now receiving the care he needs at one of our animal rescue and rehoming centres.

“Someone deliberately put this kitten in the bin and we want to find out what happened."

It comes just three days after the charity was alerted to another three cats who had been abandoned on Allanton Road in Shotts.

A female cat was found with her two offspring inside a cage off the A71, after being left on the eastbound side of the road.

They were found to be riddled with fleas, and one of the kittens was sadly put to sleep.

“Upon veterinary examination, the cats were found to be riddled with fleas and had a number of health issues.

“One of the kittens was too sick to recover and on veterinary advice, the sad decision was made to put her to sleep."
