Police in Glasgow are probing a failed carjacking - in which the blundering thug made off with his victim's sunglasses.

At around noon yesterday, a man driving a BMW 1 series car on Millerston Street, towards Duke Street, was stopped in traffic.

At this point, a man - aged between 30 and 35, of medium build and wearing a blue parka-style jacket with a fur-trimmed hood - approached the driver's window.

He attacked the motorist and demanded he surrender the car.

The driver refused and the thug fled the scene with his sunglasses, in the company of another man.

Detective Constable Adam Richardson of the Community Investigation Unit said: "This was a vicious and unprovoked attack which occurred in broad daylight at a very busy junction.

"The suspect clearly had no thought for the safety of others and was willing to carry this act out near a popular cafe.

"I am keen to speak to a witness who was outside a nearby café on Millerston Street at the time of the attack and may have seen the incident."
