An Ayrshire man left in a coma after a random attack in Ibiza has arrived home in Scotland almost a month after the ordeal.

The fight of 26-year-old Gavin Roberton, from Stewarton, is "not over yet", after being left in a coma for around three weeks after the random one-punch assault while at an ATM.

His devastated mum and aunt flew to the island to be at the electrician's bedside after he suffered a fractured skull, as well as bleeding and bruising on his brain.

The family had feared that he could remain in a coma for some time.

We told how on Friday he opened his eyes and was responding to questions.

Now, after more than £40,000 was raised to get him home, Gavin is back on British soil.

Family friend Elaine Scott confirmed on a Facebook fundraiser page on Sunday: "Happy to be able to tell you that Gavin was repatriated to Scotland earlier today.

"Thanks to your donations and fundraising this part of Gavins journey has been less of a nightmare for his family.
