RANGERS legend Fernando Ricksen was cremated with two of his most cherished football tops, it has been revealed.
The former footballer, whose funeral took place this week after he died at 43, had his coffin draped in his own charity's orange top and a yellow shirt of his first club Fortuna Sittard.
The funeral followed the star's death in St Andrew's Hospice in Airdrie after a six-year battle with Motor Neurone Disease.
The Scottish Sun reports that his wife Veronkia, 33, who is mum to the couple's seven-year-old daughter Isabella, approved the poignant send-off at the private service at Linn Crematorium in Glasgow.
The source told the newspaper: "Veronika was asked if she wanted to keep the strips for her and Isabella for the future.
“But she thought the best thing was for Fernando to be taken away with them.
“The two strips meant a lot to him.”

The football tops, etched with Fernando’s favourite No 2, were also spotted on his coffin for Wednesday’s funeral at Wellington Church in the city's Hillhead.
Former teammates Nacho Novo, Michael Mols, and Thomas Buffel were among the pallbearers at the service.
The source added: "The cremation service was a lovely tribute for Fernando. Roses were put on top of his coffin and also two football jerseys as it went down.
“One was from his first club Fortuna Sittard and another one was a Fernando Ricksen Foundation top.
“Both had his name on them. It was really touching.”

We reported earlier this week that thousands of football fans lined the streets of Ibrox Stadium to say goodbye to the club legend.
His funeral was also attended by those involved in the world of football including current Rangers manager Steven Gerrard and Celtic boss Neil Lennon.
