A £1.1 million drugs haul, including fake valium and heroin, has been recovered from a flat in Glasgow.

Officers raided the premises in St Andrew's Drive in Pollokshields just after 2pm on Thursday, after being made aware of a substantial amount of drugs inside.

Inside, they found approximately 4.5kg of what is believed to be heroin and a large quantity of suspected street pills Etizolam - also known as 'fake valium' or 'blues'.

The estimated street value is approximately £1.1M.

Detective Inspector Cheryl Kelly said: “This is a significant seizure and will cause a huge disruption to someone’s criminal activity.

"We are checking CCTV footage from in and around the area for any information on who these drugs belong to.

"We are acutely aware of the harmful effects drugs have on the people, families and the wider community.

"We will continue to target those involved in drug dealing and production and we do so with the help and co-operation of the public and our partners.

"Everyone can be assured that any information passed to police regarding drugs will be acted upon.”

Deadly Etizolam pills, being sold in Glasgow for pennies, are responsible for more than 8 out of ten drug deaths.

The Evening Times previously revealed how the pills were flooding the market and causing around three deaths a week since the start of December.

Anyone with concerns about drug dealing in their community is urged to contact police via 101.
