POLICE were called to reports of 'gunshots' in a residential street.

Officers investigated the allegations following calls from the Knightswood area this morning.

There was a police presence in Boclair Street following the reports of a firearm being shot in the area around 1am, but have said there was no evidence as to whether a gun had actually been fired.

They also confirmed that they received similar reports of the sound of a firearm being shot on Culbin Drive - a mile and a half away from Boclair Street – early this morning.

Police Scotland confirmed that they have no reported injured people or casualties from the scene.

Despite this, a police presence remained in place for most of the day around Boclair Street, with a section being cordoned off to the public.

Officers reached out to local shops and businesses for CCTV footage of anyone around the area at the time of the shots being heard.

A Police Scotland spokewoman said: "There was reports of the sound a firearm being shot at five to one this morning but there is no evidence of it being fired. There are no reports of any injured people or any casualties at the scene. Police are still investigating the incident.”
