Rangers fans can grab themselves some priceless pieces of club memorabilia as Scottish Cup medals given to Ibrox legends are set to be auctioned off later this week.

Held at McTear’s Auctioneers, items up for grabs will include ex-player Derek Johnstone’s last Scottish Cup winners medal from the 1981 final, where Rangers triumphed over Dundee United 4-1.

Considered an Ibrox icon, the Evening Times columnist joined the team at the age of 16 and played more than 500 games during two spells at the club, scoring 210 goals in the process.

McTear’s managing director, Brian Clements, said: “Derek Johnstone won multiple trophies with Rangers in a playing career that started in 1970 and continued well into the 1980s.

“The former striker is a true Rangers legend and I have no doubt his Scottish Cup winner’s medal will attract considerable interest when it goes to auction.”

The auctioneers are estimating the nine-carat gold medal could fetch up to £2500 when it goes under the hammer on Friday.

Alongside the Rangers legend’s last Scottish Cup medal, the auction will also feature a Scottish Cup winner’s medal once belonging to 1940s player Billy Williamson.

Clements added: “We have sold some fantastic sporting trophies over the years and the Williamson medal is a welcome addition to that list.”

Williamson, who passed away in 2002, played under ex-manager Bill Struth, gaining the medal after scoring the winning goal in the 1947/48 final against Morton to a 133,000 crowd at Hampden Park.

“The forward was a key player in Bill Struth’s successful Rangers side in the late 1940s and we believe the medal could fetch up to £2000.”

The medals will be auctioned off as part of McTear’s Sporting Medals & Trophies Auction.
