A SUPERMARKET giant has failed in its bid to extend its delivery hours by an extra four hours most days.

Morrisons in Anniesland wanted to receive deliveries between 6am and 11pm from Monday to Friday and between 6am to 8pm on a Sunday. The local authority had previously ruled against this change to ensure drivers drop off goods to the store at a more suitable hour - between 7am and 7pm.

An appeal was submitted to the planning department who agreed to alter the delivery hours in a way they felt benefited the supermarket and nearby residents.

Councillor Michael Cullen said: “I know the site really well but I am aware the applicant has been trying to change their delivery hours for some time.

“There are loads of tenements nearby.

“Is there a less drastic measure we could

take?”

Councillors agreed to allow deliveries from 7am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 6pm on a Sunday.
