Amazon has said it will appeal their eviction from a warehouse in Inverclyde after a court upheld a bid to move the retail giant out of the building by its landlord.

The Court of Session backed the M7 property investment firm's to serve the US firm with an eviction letter in February - giving them six months’ notice to leave the premises.

Amazon argued the terms of the lease meant they were entitled to a year's notice to leave the 'fulfilment centre'.

However the court said the term set out by M7 was "fair and legal".

The landlord may now seek damages from the firm, which reported revenues of $63 billion in July, for remaining in the facility beyond the August deadline.

London-based M7 Real Estate owns 800 industrial assets in 13 countries on behalf of its investors, with a fund worth more than £4bn.

Amazon has said it remains "business as usual" for the 300 workers at the Gourock site.

A spokeswoman confirmed they were likely to appeal the decision.

John Murnaghan, head of UK and Ireland real estate for M7, said: "We're here to engage constructively and proactively with Amazon over this lease."

"However, we need to ensure we're getting fair value for our investors."
