A GANG of men with their faces covered forced their way into a home to steal cash while a woman and two children were inside.
The terrifying home robbery happened in Leven Road in a village in the Wemyss Bay area at around 8 pm last night.
Police said a 62-year-old woman and two children were in the property at the time when the men forced their way in.
The gang stole a sum of cash valued in double figures.
Detective Inspector David Wagstaff said: "These three men subjected the occupants of the house, including a woman and two children, to a terrifying experience in their home."
He added: "We are making every effort to identify them and would urge anyone with information to come forward as soon as they can.
"Anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity or vehicles around the area is asked to make contact, along with anyone who may have dashcam footage or private CCTV which could assist our investigation."

Officers are appealing for information, particularly in relation to the three men.
All are described as being approximately 20 to 30-years-old and speaking with Scottish accents.
One was around 6ft tall and he was wearing dark clothing including a hooded top and grey trainers.
The second is described as being approximately 5ft 8 inches tall and he was wearing a green t-shirt, dark hooded top and grey trainers.
The final man is described as being around 5ft 9 inches tall and he was also wearing dark clothing and grey trainers.
All of the men had their faces covered during the incident.
