Scotland's Rugby World Cup game with Japan will go ahead on Sunday, according to cup bosses.

The game had previously been under threat from Typhoon Hagibis, Japan's biggest storm in decades, which has left at least nine people dead.

If Scotland's match was cancelled, Gregor Townsend's men would have been eliminated from the World Cup.

But bosses confirmed early this morning that the Pool A finale will go ahead at Yokohama International Stadium after a stadium inspection.

The New Zealand v Italy and England v France games scheduled for Saturday were cancelled.

Earlier on Sunday, World Rugby and the Japan Rugby 2019 Organising Committee announced that the Pool B match between Namibia and Canada in Kamaishi had also been cancelled.

The USA v Tonga match in Hanazono and Wales v Uruguay in Kumamoto will go ahead as scheduled.

Fans have been warned to expect a significantly reduced catering service at Scotland's game today owing to limitations of staff availability.

They have also been advised there will be significant amounts of water in the surrounding floodplains and river at the stadium; this is because the stadium is located within the engineered flood defences of Yokohama City.
