PETER LOVENKRANDS wasn’t surprised to see boss Steven Gerrard stealing the show at Ibrox after he made his first appearance in a Rangers jersey on Saturday.

The Liverpool icon played the final minutes of the Legends match as Rangers - who scored through Lovenkrands and Kris Boyd - lost 3-2.

The Dane, a Gers coach at Under-20s level, faces Gerrard at the Hummel Training Centre and told RangersTV: “You could see that he was pulling the strings for the team in the middle.

“I was a wee bit gutted I had to come off and I wasn’t on when he came on because in the staff game we link up really well. It was a wee bit gutting I didn’t get the chance to do that here.

“You can see that he can still play. With the mentality that he has and the way he is, he is fit and his touch is still there. He is a top player.”
