A man has been hospitalised in a devious knife attack in Shettleston after being stabbed in the back as he checked his car tyres.

The 26-year-old victim stepped out of his grey Volkswagen Golf on Maryston Street at around 4:30pm on Sunday, October 13 to test tyre pressures when he was approached by an unknown assailant and attacked.

He was rushed to hospital to receive treatment for injuries where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Officers are now appealing for anyone in the area at the time of the incident to come forward and assist in their inquiries.

Detective constable William Corkindale at Shettleston Police Office said: “This appears to be a serious unprovoked attack.”

“The attacker approached the victim from behind and at this stage we have no description at all to go on. 

“I am appealing for anyone who may have been Maryston Street around 4.30pm yesterday to get in touch if they saw or heard anything which might help in this inquiry.”

He added: “I am also appealing for anyone who may have been driving on Maryston Street and had a dash-cam fitted to their vehicle, to get in touch if they think that anything might have been captured on their device.
