A man has died following an incident close to train tracks in Girvan, police have confirmed.
Emergency crews were called to the scene in South Ayrshire in the early hours of Tuesday morning after a series of calls regarding a casualty on the rail between Girvan and Stranraer.

A police spokesperson said officers and paramedics attended the scene at around 3am, but the 36-year-old was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
A British Transport Police spokeswoman said: “Officers were called to the area in Girvan shortly after 3am this morning following reports of a casualty close to the tracks.”

“Paramedics also attended however a 36-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.”
She added; “The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be made to the Procurator Fiscal.”
