A teenage petrol station worker was held at gunpoint during a terrifying armed robbery at a garage in Springburn.

Officers have launched an urgent appeal for information after the 18-year-old was forced to hand over a three-figure sum of money after a man wielding a firearm walked into the store room of the Shell Euro Garage in Springburn Road.

The suspect threatened the staff member and demanded he empty the till before leaving through a fire escape and running back along the street following the raid at around 12:30am on Wednesday, October 16.

A customer who was in the shop at the time of the incident has also been left badly shaken by the experience.

Police say they are now keen to trace the man responsible and are reviewing CCTV footage as part of their inquiries.

Constable Ross Thomson said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time, any motorists or taxi drivers who may have noticed the suspect as he ran off.”

“In particular, I would ask the customer who was in the garage at the time of the robbery and the two people at the corner of the forecourt to contact us as I’m sure they will have information which could assist our ongoing enquiries.”
