Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after two assaults and robberies in the space of an hour.

A teenager was assaulted and robbed by a group of six men clsoe tp the Clutha Vaults just 45 minutes before a 21-year-old woman was the victim of a similar incident on nearby Moir Street.

The 17-year-old required hospital treatment after being struck on the head by one of the men in the incident at around 11:30pm on Monday, October 7.

The victim's mobile phone, headphones and glasses were stolen in the attack on Clyde Street.

Officers have linked this incident with another that occurred nearby at around 12.15am on Tuesday, October 8, where a woman was grabbed from behind and had her mobile phone and rucksack stolen.

Police want to trace six men in connection with both of these incidents.

Five were said to bewearing dark hoodies and the sixth had on a grey hoody with a blue body warmer at the time of the assaults.

Detective Constable Blair Logan of Greater Glasgow CID said: “We want to make it clear that we will not tolerate this type of behaviour and we are utilising a number of resources to find the individuals responsible for these incidents.

“There has been an increase in high visibility patrols in the area as we continue enquires and I would encourage anyone with information which may be relevant to get in touch.”

He added: "Anyone with information which could help should contact police as soon as possible on 101, quoting incident number 4367 of Monday 7 October, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
