Police investigating the assault of a schoolgirl in Milton have revealed that no crime has taken place.
Officers launched a probe after reports that a man hugged a 10-year-old girl on Westray Street just after 9pm on Tuesday.
The girl was reported to have ran off and police were contacted, with reports on social media suggesting the man was attempting to abduct the youngster.
But the force have since confirmed that the case has been closed.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Officers have been liaising closely with the family.
"As a result of their assistance, along with other local enquiries, we can confirm that no incident has taken place and no further action is required."
